in 1974 and located in Sacramento, the Commission has five major responsibilities. |

The CPUC regulates privately owned telecommunications,

FERC is an independent regulatory agency within
the Department of Energy that regulates the transmission and sale
of natural gas, oil by pipeline, electricity, and licenses, and inspects
private, municipal, and state hydroelectric projects. |

The Strategic Planning and Policy Office provides
support to the Assistant Administrator for Weather Services and Deputy
Assistant Administrator through the development and implementation
of an integrated approach to NWS policy, strategy, and long-range

in California in 1905, is one of the largest combination natural gas
and electric utilities in the United States. Based in San Francisco,
the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of PG&E

San Diego Gas & Electric is a regulated distribution
utility providing electric service to three million customers in San
Diego and southern Orange counties and natural gas service to San
Diego County. SDG&E is a subsidiary of Sempra
